I love going to Sally’s because the employee’s go above and beyond for their customers. As a non-professional hair colorist, I felt completely comfortable after speaking to the one of their employees, Pat, who showed me everything that I needed.
Here is what you are going to need to achieve that gorgeous, younger looking hair:
  • Any AGEbeatiful hair color of your choice (you should go a shade lighter the first time you’re covering up gray hair)
  • Creme Developer (usually it’s 20 volume)
  • Latex gloves
  • A dye brush
  • A few old towels to cover up your clothing.
  • A mixing bowl
  • After color sealer

Just follow these easy steps and your hair will be looking shinier and healthier than ever!

In this post, we used the color 4R-Dark Red Brown in permanent liqui-creme. Always remember to do a patch test when dying your hair to make sure that you’re not allergic to the product.  Step 1: Put on a shirt you don’t mind getting dirty. Step 2: Mix in the hair color with the developer (the ratio is 1:1 for permanent hair color/2 fluid ounces and 60 ml of color.)

Step 3: Apply the product to dry hair.
Step 4:Leave the dye in your hair for 30 minutes (45 minutes for 50 percent or more gray hair.)

Step 5: Rinse your hair thoroughly and apply shampoo and conditioner (we used after-color sealer). Step 6: Dry your hair and marvel at your new luscious locks!

Take a look at these Before/After shots to see Pamela’s new look!

The proof is in the photos. AgeBeautiful haircare products REALLY DO fight the five stages of aging hair. The dye leaves your hair feeling and looking far healthier. Plus, the color covers up gray hairs easily. What are you waiting for? Head to Sally Beauty now and dye your hair with AGEBeautiful hair products. Everyone will be asking you what professional salon you went to. It just looks that good!

The Nutritionist Reviews Confession: I Had Grey Hair in my 20’s

I have a secret that I’ve been keeping from you. You see, I have a decent amount of grey hairs that are easily hidden when my hair is worn down. That is why you will rarely see photos of me with my hair up because the grey hair will show. I have decided to ignore it for a few years and finally decided to give dying my hair a try. I have had some grey hair for most of my 20’s and of course, it was only getting worse.

Starting at about age 25, I noticed myself growing more and more grey hair. I had noticed a couple here and there a couple of years before, that could easily be pulled out, but since age 25, I noticed more. Since they were so easily hidden by wearing my hair down, I decided not to do anything about it for awhile. My beauty routine is so simple AKA lazy. I didn’t want to have to regularly dye my hair due to time constraints and liking my natural hair color.

I only dyed my hair a couple of times in the past. It was back when I was about 15 and 16 years old. I went a little darker once and a little more red the other time. Overall, I love my brunette hair and don’t want to change much about it.

I just turned 29 years old and a few of the grey hairs are growing on top now and are not 100% hidden when my hair is down so I decided to give dying my hair a try. Plus, a few people have commented on me having more grey hair which honestly did not bother me much and more of made me think that they were rude. Would you tell someone if you noticed that they gained 5 pounds? Of course not!

I am a busy mom that doesn’t often take much time for myself in terms of beauty. I prioritize my kids, my marriage, working on the blog and social media, taking care of my home and exercise. All of these things keep me very busy where I don’t have much extra time or desire to do beauty treatments.

I heard good things about the Zotos Professional AGEbeautiful anti-aging hair color from Sally Beauty and decided to give that a try. As we age, our hair shows 5 signs of aging including lacking color, volume, manageability, moisture and shine. AGEbeautiful is the first haircolor that helps with all 5 signs of aging in your hair. It contains melanin, keratin peptide, silk protein and a conditioning technology to replenish your hair.

I picked up some AGEbeautiful anti-aging hair color in 6G- light golden brown. I took my mom in the store with me and she helped me pick the color that was most similar to my current color as I didn’t want to change the color much. I was surprised to see that my hair would be considered “light” as my hair is pretty dark but I love how it turned out.

I chose the permanent liqui-creme which you purchase with a developer- the volume 20 was right for my hair. Both together were just under $10 which is affordable. I mixed them together in a bowl with a color brush, gloves and wore a shirt that I didn’t mind getting dirty. You apply the color with the brush and wash out 30 minutes later.

It did a great job of covering my grey hair and gave a gorgeous slightly darker color than I previously had. I do feel more confidence having the grey hair gone but I never minded it all that much before. I will see how long it takes for the grey hair to grow back and see if I want to continue to dye it. I hope that I can wait at least a couple of months before doing it again but we will see. I would recommend this product. I am happy with the results and it was affordable and easy to use.

5 Eyeliners and a Gloss Refresh Your Hair While Helping It Fight The 5 Signs of Aging

I’ve always been pretty good about upkeeping my hair: I don’t wash it daily, I use good quality products to keep it as healthy as possible and I color it every 2-3 months to refresh the color with a hair dye that is not harsh. But as diligent as I have been with my hair, I didn’t realize that I might not be helping it age – yes, out hair ages a lot more than we might think!

As we age, our hair experiences 5 signs of aging: it loses volume, manageability, color, moisture and shine. Already many of us suffer with thinner hair, I know mine isn’t super voluminous to begin with and to think that I will lose even more as I age, is a little worrisome.

That’s why this time when it was time to refresh my hair color I decided to go a different route, and use a hair color that will help me replenish all those things our hair loses as it ages, Zotos Professional AGEbeautiful anti-aging hair color.

Help Hair Fight the 5 Signs of Aging When Coloring Your Hair

AGEbeautiful anti-aging haircolor is the first haircolor developed to fight all 5 signs of aging in your clients’ hair. AGEbeautiful contains melanin, keratin peptide, silk protein and a patented conditioning technology to replenish hair with the essential components that are lost with aging. The unique formula penetrates deeply and absorbs quickly to deliver beautiful, rich color. Hair feels instantly fuller, silkier and radiates with shine.

Zotos Professional AGEbeautiful anti-aging hair color can be found at Sally Beauty,

What you will need:

  • Go to your local Sally Beauty store and go to the AGEbeautiful color section and pick the shade that is right for you. I picked out shade 4RM DARK RED MAHOGANY BROWN.
  • Once you pick your shade, purchase your developer. 99% of the time 20 volume is the correct developer but I picked up the one that the Sally Beauty associate suggested would work best for my color.
  • Decide how you want to apply – in an applicator bottle or a bowl and brush and purchase those items. I am using the liquid-crème so I decided a bowl was the way to go. Don’t forget the brush and gloves!

How to:

  • Mix color and developer. Mixing ratio for most of the shades is 1 to 1; meaning for every ounce of color you need an ounce of developer. The color comes in a 2oz tube; the developer a 4oz tube so I will only be pouring 1/2 of the developer and the full tube of color.
  • Do a patch test to make sure you are not allergic.
  • Apply to dry hair with brush, make sure you apply gloves. After the mix is in the hair make sure to wipe off any color that might be on your skin, you will want to do this right away.
  • Leave hair color in hair for suggested amount of time: 30 minutes for me

After application, rinse hair well, shampoo and condition as usual. And with that, we have a fresh new hair color that has also helped fortify my hair against those signs of aging.

I really like this color, I just love that hint of red!

Again, for reference, it’s shade 4RM DARK RED MAHOGANY BROWN, and a perfect color to take me through the rest of the holiday season.

In the overall scheme of life I am still pretty young and might not yet have to worry about my hair aging, but I have always been super proactive about caring for my skin and hair. Since I color my hair every few months anyway, why not use a hair color that will help me prevent those signs of aging?

The Pretty Plus 5 Self Care Tips – Thrive in Your 30s

I feel like my 29th year on earth has been one big intro to life in my 30’s. Somehow the universe has decided, “Hey, let’s throw every cliche at her, make it memorable, and make sure she is geared up for what 30 is about to bring. I have never been one to care about age- it truly is just a number to me, but recently I began to FEEL 30. And that is just overwhelming to me!

Some things life has thrown at me to boost me into 30 mode:

  • Having a baby
  • Dealing with PAYING for said baby (NICU costs a lot, guys.)
  • Becoming unbelievably emotional
  • Having aches and pains in my body from normal activities
  • Experiencing a “restructure” of friendships- both loss and gain!
  • Seeing more and more gray hair

The struggle is real over here, and as we get closer and closer to January and my 30th birthday, I am looking for more ways to take care of myself better. I don’t want to find ways to HIDE the aging, but more find ways to age more gracefully and peacefully. I want to share my 5 self care tips for thriving in your thirties, so I have partnered up with AGEbeautiful and Sally Beauty to share these fun tips!

Life runs so much more smoothly if you have a plan. Whether you want to be like me and keep a detailed, running list of tasks, or if you want to take a more minimalist approach- that is your choice! Find something that works for you! If you want to become more organized, but don’t have a clue, you can always start with making a list of 3 tasks you want to complete for the day.

Here’s the key: STAY organized. Complete your tasks. Being organized works well with actually following through. You will have more time in your day, spend less time straining to think of all the things you should or could be doing, and crossing things off lists seriously releases endorphins and makes you want to remain productive as well.

This one can be hard. It’s human nature to want to hold on to things- usually for longer than you should keep hold of them. If there are things in your house collecting dust, creating madness, not evoking joy, then let go of them!

You know what else this works well for? PEOPLE. It’s a little harder to cut those ties, but if there are people holding you back, creating madness, and that just don’t fit into your life anymore- let them go! It’s the most pure, helpful form of self care you can imagine. You’re in your 30’s now! Only keep what is most important in your life, including people.

I harp on having a solid budget all the time, but for good reason. My budget plan has helped my husband and me TREMENDOUSLY over the last year and a half. We have payed off over $20,000 in consumer debt (credit cards, medical bills, IRS ridiculousness, you name it!) We have a long way to go, but having a set budget and sticking to it gives us goals to work toward together and helps us to not have those “money arguments” a lot of couple fall into the trap of having.

You can check out my budget sheet here to get an idea of what you can do for your own family’s finances. (There is a free spreadsheet you can download!)

Healthy routines are so important, but can be rough to stick to. I think it’s because people usually bite off more than they can chew at first, so be sure to ease into routine! If you swap a healthy meal once per day for your take out, cut your portion size down, and start with 10-15 minutes of light exercise per day, you will be on your way to a healthier routine in no time!

If nothing else, be sure to get into the habit of drinking lots of water and adding in nutrient dense foods to your diet! Improving your habits one by one will lead to making healthier choices in the long run. You’ve got this! Do it for your own health, not for anyone else.

I’m not saying you need to head to the spa weekly or monthly (but if you can, that would be nice!) I am just saying to take 10 minutes and paint your nails, take 5 minutes and wear a face mask, or set an hour aside to cover those pesky gray hairs you’re really down and out about! I mean, just check out the gray coverage below with my before and after photos! It really can be uplifting to make just a little change to your appearance.

Generally, as we age, our hair shows 5 major signs of aging. You can experience loss of volume, manageability, color, moisture and shine. AGEbeautiful anti-aging haircolor is the first haircolor developed to fight all 5 signs of aging in your hair. After I use it, I REALLY do notice a significant difference in these areas, especially moisture and shine! You can check out my tutorial below to see how simple it is to use! (AKA Don’t be intimidated by it not coming in a box!)

STEP 1: Go to Sally Beauty to purchase your AGEbeautiful haircolor. If you don’t know which color matches you, the biggest tip is to go a shade lighter than you think your hair is. The people working there can always help match you as well. You’ll need to get either a bottle (for liquid) or a mixing bowl and brush (for liquid-creme, which is what I got.)

STEP 2: Mix with equal parts color and developer. The developer comes in 4 oz and the color is 2 oz. If you have long hair, buy 2 of the color tubes. Measure out the developer, then add in the color and mix it up!

STEP 3: Start with a patch test, then once you have determined your hair doesn’t react poorly, apply to your full head of hair evenly. You can apply conditioner or Vaseline around your hairline (on your skin) to create a barrier and prevent staining!

STEP 4: Follow directions on the bottle for how long your should leave on to develop your color, rinse, then style your hair as usual. You can then take time to admire that your hair is no longer showing signs of aging and is a rich, beautiful color!

Here’s the thing about all these self care items: do only what you want and do it at your leisure. Don’t feel pressure to do things just because they are suggested. It can be as simple or as complex as you choose to make it- just make sure you prioritize yourself! If you choose to start with covering those pesky grays, or just switching up your color, head over to Sally Beauty Supply and grab some AGEbeautiful! You’ll love it!

Let me know your biggest self care hack in the comments!
